My Lords and Ladies,
My name is Hilary Buckland. I have a B.A. in Elizabethan History, and an M.L.S. in Library Science, and I have been sewing for more years than I care to admit. I joined the Society for Creative Anachronism many years ago, and I've won numerous arts awards for my work. I started out sewing a few things for friends, and I founded Fashions In Time in 1991, when I realized that my “hobby” had become a full-fledged business.
Over the years I have found that the surest way to please a customer is to provide a high quality garment that fits right, looks great, and lasts. To achieve this, the garments offered for sale on this web site are made to your measurements, even the “catalog” items. This means the clothing you receive has been produced especially for you, according to your specifications.
I don't buy huge bolts of identical fabric in two or three colors. You'll notice that "available colors" aren't even mentioned in most of the style descriptions. That's because you decide what color you want, and I do my best to find it. I buy small quantities of lots of different colors and fabrics, because I enjoy making unique clothing as much as you enjoy wearing it. When I say “custom” I really mean it.
All garments are made in a smoke-free, pet-free studio, located in upstate NY. Clients who wish to have a personal fitting can make an appointment to come to my home, which is next to the studio building.
Fashions In Time can provide just about any type of garment you’d like, from any time period, for any occasion. There is an extensive collection in the custom order section, but you are never limited to just what you see online. New styles are constantly being added, and many of them are client-designed. If you don’t see what you want, just ask!
I am proud of the historical clothing offered by Fashions In Time, and I guarantee that you will be completely satisfied with your purchase.
