Irene

1940s wedding gown

The bride of the 1940s had to be practical in her choice of wedding apparel due to rationing during WWII. Suits were very popular for weddings since the skirt could be shortened for future wear and the jacket could be worn with anything. Price range $99.00 and up.

Irene - This two-piece suit is made of cotton brocade. The fully-lined jacket has short sleeves, a peter pan collar, flared waistline, and it buttons up the front. The unlined skirt is gathered onto a fixed waistband and has a hook and eye closure.
Irene - $199.00 as shown.  Click on each picture for a larger image.
